Silverlight Roundup
May 1, 2007 | 3:58 amOkay, here’s the thing: Silverlight 1.0 is almost production ready, and is available for download right now. .NET support is in 1.1 Alpha, meaning the final version will take a longer time to come out. No Reason for us to not play with it though
There is an addon for Orcas Beta 1 that will add Silverlight templates.
Oh, and the BCL team has a post on the CLR that’ll be shipping with Silverlight 1.1. It’s a subset of the .NET 3.5 full CLR, meaning that you get LINQ as well. Yay!
Also, there’s a new security model which is much simpler than CAS. Info on that, as well as a list of all the public classes in the CLR with Silverlight are available on the BCL Team Blog post.
Am installing Orcas Beta1 right now, and am thinking of which widget to build first….
Also interesting (nah, damn interesting) are the community samples available here. Already, the photo viewver app is now running in IronPython, JScript, VB.NET, etc. There’s even a dynamic console where you can type IronPython code and see it in action real time. The Wow factor is off the scale. Kewl! I see lots more widgets coming…
